how tom cook Masala Prawn Popcorn







A quick and easy recipe involving chunky prawns cut into popcorn size, marinated, batter coated and deep fried to perfection. Perfect for tea-time.

Ingredients

  • 8-10 prawns
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 3 lemons
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi powder
  • 1 stem of coriander
  • 250 gms maida
  • 250 gms semolina
  • 250 ml oil
  • Salt

Method

  1. Cut prawns into popcorn size & marinate with ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, red chilli powder, coriander powder, kasuri methi powder & salt.
  2. Break eggs & beat it.
  3. On two separate plates, spread out some maida & semolina.
  4. Dip marinated prawns in maida, eggs & semolina.
  5. Deep fry and serve hot garnished with coriander & lemon.

recipes cooking Garlic Prawns



Marinated in a spicy garlic sauce, this easy to cook prawn recipe is a great pick for a quick bite at your dinner party.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 kg prawns (medium, deshelled, deveined with tails intact)

  • For the marination:
  • 1 Tbsp garlic and green chilli blended paste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (crushed)
  • 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp chilli sauce (chilli garlic or sriracha)
  • 7 garlic cloves (small and chopped)
  • 2  tsp cornflour
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp red chilli powder

  • For the sauce:
  • 2 Tbsp white vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (roasted)
  • 2 tsp green chilies chopped)

Method

  1. Marinate prawns and leave aside for half an hour.
  2. In a non stick pan. Put 2 tablespoon sesame oil, when hot add prawns.
  3. Stir fry till prawn tails are curled and cooked(do not overcook).
  4. Put in serving dish and serve with sauce.

how to make ayam goreng




Ayam Goreng is a type of Indonesian fried chicken recipe. Chicken tossed with veggies, mingled in sambhal paste and soya sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup bone-less chicken - boiled with lemon grass and ginger
  • 2 Tbsp chopped onions
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1/2 cup diced vegetables (carrot, cabbage, bok choy, tomato, capsicum)
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • 1 tsp sambal paste ( a chilli based sauce used in Indonesian cuisine)
  • 1 Tbsp sweet soya sauce
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste
  • Oil
  • Fried onions - to garnish
  • Parsley - to garnish

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry the chicken.
  2. Once done, keep the chicken aside.
  3. Now add the vegetables in a pan, saute and then add the stock. Mix well.
  4. Add the sambal paste and soya sauce. Cook for few minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add the chicken to this mixture and mix well.
  7. Serve garnished with sweet soya sauce, fried onions and parsley.

how to make Indonesian Nasi Goreng




Nasi Goreng is the Balinese rendition of chicken fried rice. Chicken, cabbage, carrots, bokchoy, kafir lime leaves, balinese red paste give this recipe a unique flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 bowl of cooked rice
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2  garlic pieces, chopped
  • 100 gm chicken, finely chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1/2 cabbage, chopped
  • 10-12 bokchoy leaves
  • Spicy paste - (made from garlic, shrimp paste, red chili, kafir lime leaves)
  • 1  Tbsp sweet soya sauce
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of ground white pepper
  • Sambal (Balinese condiment)
  • Corn chips
 

Method

  1. Cook a bowl full of rice (boiled) and allow it to cool.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add onion and garlic, once the onion turns golden, add chicken to the pan.
  3. Once chicken becomes soft, add beaten egg to the pan. After stirring for a minute, add a handful of carrot and cabbage. Add 10-12 bokchoy leaves and continue stirring for a few more minutes.
  4. Add chili paste made from garlic, shrimp paste, kafir lime leaves and red chili, continue to stir.
  5. Add some more oil if required to avoid sticking and continue to saute all the ingredients together.
  6. Next, add the cooked rice to the pan and keep stirring until the rice turns yellow in color. Add 1 Tbsp of sweet soya sauce.
  7. Add salt and pepper and keep stirring on a low flame.
  8. Your Nasi Goreng is ready to be served, but not without a few garnishing's.
  9. Pour a spoon full of sambal, some corn chips; add 1 piece of cooked chicken and place a fried egg with the sunny side up on top of the rice.
  10. Now enjoy the Balinese rendition of fried rice!
